Hoping to bring home a peace treaty that will
prevent a war
between Greece and Troy, Paris (Jacques Sernas), the young prince of Troy,
journeys to Sparta. On the treacherous seas, the Trojan ship is damaged in a
storm and he is swept overboard. The unconscious Paris washes onto to the Spartan
shore where he is found by the beautiful Helen. Thinking she is
the goddess Aphrodite come to life, he falls madly in love,
completely unaware that she is the Queen of Sparta. Still determined to
seek a peace treaty, he arrives at the palace, finding the Greek
king (and Helen's husband) Menelaus (Niall MacGinnis), Agamemnon (Robert Douglas),
Ulysses (Torin Thatcher), Achilles (Stanley Baker), and others debating whether
to go to war with Troy. Menelaus sees that Helen and Paris know each other and
perceives that they are in love, pretending friendship, he plots to kill Paris.
With guards at every gate, Paris
realizes that Menelaus is holding him prisoner and with the aid of
Helen, attempts to escape. When they are discovered
together, he abducts Helen and sails for Troy. This action makes matters worse
as the Greeks,
who have been feuding among themselves, now unite and set off to attack Troy,
devising a unique plan to get inside the gates. |
